On May 1st, 2012, everyone in New York who leaves their house or looks out their window will see public art as part of an historic MayDay celebration. Here are just some of the projects underway, with details about where you can see them and how you can participate in their creation.
Free art from Molly Crabapple
What is it? Free art prints from the archives of Molly Crabapple, an NYC artist who has contributed enormous amounts to several Occupy projects, including the iconic MayDay General Strike poster above. Her new series, The Shell Game, is a year-long, crowdsourced project to create an art show about the world financial collapse, and the people who have risen up in protest against it.
Where can I see it? Part of the Free Store in Bryant Park, 11am-2pm or until supplies run out.
